Common Cause: Protecting Our Democracy

In February I started as Program Director for Common Cause Delaware. We are a state branch of Common Cause, a nonpartisan grassroots organization with over 400,000 members that is dedicated to upholding the core values of American democracy. We work to create open, honest, and accountable government that serves the public interest; promote equal rights, opportunity, and representation for all; and empower all people to make their voices heard in the political process.

I am thrilled to have taken on this work because Common Cause is tackling some of the most important issues we face as a democratic society — working to decrease the influence of wealthy special interests on government and politics, protect the right to vote in the face of attempts to systematically disenfranchise particular groups of people, and curtail the ability of politicians to draw electoral district lines to benefit themselves, among other things.

If you share my concern that these anti-democratic practices threaten the ability of everyday people to have control over the forces that govern our lives, I hope you will sign up for our email list — which includes emails about what is going on in Delaware, as well as the nation.
